Computacenter's Proof of Concept service enables solution prototyping, testing and validation to transform business requirements into a proven IT solution, within an optimised and risk mitigated environment.
A service component of our Dynamic Datacenter solution.
What we do
Computacenter's Solutions Centre enables customers to reduce business risks and guarantee infrastructure performance levels in line with business growth. We offer three types of engagement:
Proof of Concept (POC) – prototyping, testing and validation to prove a particular IT solution. We prioritise the functional and technical requirements for a proposed solution, and test the expected ROI before committing to large project expenditure.
Load testing – we help customers gain clarity on the high and low performance boundaries of a solution prior to implementation. We will identify the optimum system and application configuration to support initial and future workloads.
Stage Services – Through the combination of established logistics and a purpose-built environment, customers can work rapidly to get their systems 'ready to deploy' prior to shipment. This approach reduces operational disruption and reduces risk in the production environment.
Our Proof of Concept and Testing services are available at your location, or within the controlled environment of the Computacenter Enterprise Solutions Centre.
How it helps
By utilising Computacenter's multi-vendor infrastructure testing and integration expertise, application or platform introductions can be effectively 'de-risked' via extensive offline testing and documentation. You can manage the impact of change and guarantee infrastructure performance levels in line with your business growth, whilst continuing with 'business as usual' operations. The specific benefits include:
- Technical validation – enabling detailed understanding of the technical viability of a project, and enabling senior IT management to confirm the choices of architecture, technology and design.
- Improved practices – the lessons learned around configuration and management during testing can positively influence the eventual project launch.
- Risk mitigation – the experience derived from testing the prototype allows for informed decision making on solution design, implementation or change, and provides risk mitigation for its execution.

Why we are different
Computacenter's Solutions Centre (SC) represents a multi-million pound investment to provide a multi-vendor testing environment. It supports the dynamic creation and testing of a wide range of prototype systems covering networking, server platform, storage and software.
We have experienced practitioners to co-ordinate the proof of concept process and methodology, so that customers and partners can focus on the development and validation of the prototype system.
In addition, Computacenter's Professional Services Consultancy Practice provides a resource pool with the skills and experience to support best practice in product selection, configuration and testing. Computacenter combines its industry partnerships, experience and scale to deliver solutions that few organisations can match.
The comprehensive nature of the facilities has resulted in a number of global vendors using the capabilities for proof of concept activities, and ongoing partnership with independent software vendors' application porting and remediation.

Since its launch in February 2002, the Solutions Centre has hosted testing assignments for customers across all industry sectors including Cornhill Insurance, Railtrack, BT OpenWorld, MMO2, Safeway, Green Flag, T-Mobile, Abbey National, Deutsche Bank, NHS, Inland Revenue and First National Bank.
