What we do

Computacenter uses software discovery tools which identify structured and unstructured data, plus comprehensive interviews with key stakeholders. Based on this information, we document an approach to deliver a coherent and practical implementation of Information Lifecycle Management (ILM) over a set period of time.
Building on this approach, we can then establish classes of infrastructure and define storage management archiving policies as the first step to enabling full ILM. The next step is the capture of metadata that can delineate between personal data and information that is relevant to corporate compliance. Automating the associated management processes provides policy-based movement to ensure capacity, cost and compliance are all optimally aligned.

Where we have done it

Lancashire Police
Lancashire Police were facing an ever-increasing demand for data storage, and needed to develop a flexible and scalable storage strategy. Key drivers were improving data availability and security, whilst increasing storage capacity to cope with current and future policing.

Lancashire Constabulary engaged Computacenter to help design and implement a new approach to storage. A range of storage tiers were defined to support the different types of data and their associated performance and resilience requirements. High performance SAN storage was specified for mission-critical applications, with NAS storage for less critical data requirements.
