Computacenter helps an organisation to select the best option for gaining maximum value redundant IT hardware, whilst ensuring all UK and European legislation is met.

A service component of our Lifecycle Management solution.

What we do

Computacenter's Recovery, Disposal and Recycling services are delivered through a wholly-owned subsidiary, RDC. Based upon the configuration, capability, age and quality of your used computer equipment and your business objectives, we will determine which combination of services will offer the most value from:

Auditing and Reporting – Comprehensive asset management audit and inventory control

Logistics Management – Recovery and transportation for all types of IT equipment

Equipment Resale – Selling equipment to the second user consumer, trade, and international markets, generating revenue for your business

Redeployment Services – Upgrade, reconfigure and redeploy IT equipment for reuse within your organisation

Computer Recycling – Environmentally responsible computer recycling with zero per cent to landfill, protecting employees, the public and the environment

Value Added Services – Including employee purchase schemes and donation of equipment to charity, education or non- profit making organisations

How it helps

Cost Reduction
Though your IT hardware may be of no further use to you, it may still have a value within the secondary market. Remarketing redundant computer equipment can release additional value back into your organisation, often turning the operating cost of computer disposal into a revenue stream.

Extended Asset Lifespan
Redundant assets can be recovered, refurbished and updated (including hardware upgrades, reconfiguration and customisation) and then redeployed back into your organisation.

Legislation Compliance
By using RDC's services, your organisation can provide demonstrable compliance to the WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) Directive, which states 65% of IT equipment must be recycled. RDC already exceeds the WEEE Directive requirements, and is the first UK IT Company to recycle over 90 per cent of redundant IT equipment, with the remainder being recovered resulting in zero per cent to landfill.

Why we are different

Track Record
RDC has over 12 years of practical experience handling redundant IT equipment for some of Europe's largest organisations in the government, finance, communications, and commercial sectors.

Environmentally Conscious
RDC only use appropriately-licensed computer recycling specialists to ensure environmental duty of care obligations are met. Recycling sites and processes are audited to ensure that environmental practices are maintained and legal compliance is assured, as part of RDC's ISO 14001 environmental management certification.

Scale of Capability
RDC is Europe's leading IT asset management company, both in terms of capacity and volume of equipment processed. RDC processes in excess of 450,000 items per annum on behalf of many of the largest FTSE 250 companies and government organisations.

Industry Recognition
In 2009 RDC won their second Queen's Award for Enterprise, in the Sustainable Development Category. This award adds to their 2002 Queen's Award for Enterprise for Innovation, for developing the IT asset management business model.
